Everyday Skin Issues and Simple Solutions

Dry Skin - Tree Hut Care

The key factor to combating dry skin is keeping your body hydrated with lots of fluids, particularly water. Water will nourish your body and support skin's natural moisture. Once your body receives the right amount of hydration, you can supplement your skin with natural moisturizers such as Shea Butter.

Our skin care regimen is primarily based on the natural healing powers of Shea Butter, while complementing it with natural extracts and oils.

  • For skin conditioning and polishing - Try the Coconut Lime line of Tree Hut products. Coconut Extract aids in deeply moisturizing skin and Lime Extract  a natural exfoliator.
  • For extra-dry flaky skin - Try the Brazilian Nut line of Tree Hut products. Brazil Nut Oil  contains naturally occurring vitamins that prevent cell-turnover to repair extra dry skin from within.
  • For chapped or sunburned dry and sensitive skin - Try the Hawaiian Kukui line for Tree Hut products. Kukui Nut Oil aids in healing chapped or sunburned skin.
  • For anti-aging, repairing, and rejuvenating skin care - Try the Almond & Honey line of Tree Hut products. Almond Oil helps to repair and maintain the natural glow of skin, while Orange Oil supports collagen formation in skin.

For daily skin maintenance:

  • Cleanse with Moisturizing Body Wash in bath or shower.
  • Apply Body Lotion in the morning for all day moisture.
  • Apply Body Butter nightly (and daily on spots where needed) for deep moisturization and to keep skin Shea healthy.
  • Use Shea Body Scrub for exfoliation 4-5 times per week to buff away dead skin cells and skin bumps.

Acne

Acne is a very common skin problem that shows up as outbreaks of bumps called pimples or zits. These usually appear on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders. Acne can be the cause of much insecurity, especially among teens and young adults.

For ongoing self-care, follow these guidelines:

  • Use a mild skin cleanser twice a day. Harsh cleansers and alcohol astringents can actually worsen acne.
  • Avoid squeezing the pimples or zits—this will only aggravate the blemish and can cause scarring and infection.Keep hands away from your face and other acne-prone parts of the skin.
  • Regular exercise will not only help relieve your body of stress, but of harmful toxins as well—both of which are common causes of acne.
  • Limit sun exposure. Getting a tan only masks acne at best. Sun exposure causes irritation, which can make acne worse, especially if you are using an acne treatment that makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight and UV rays.
  • Natural remedies like aloe vera, garlic, oatmeal, or cucumber-based masks can also help to soothe skin inflammation caused by acne.

Cracked Heals and Rough Feet

Your feet take quite a beating every day. It is important to use a strong hydrating and moisturizing cream or lotion on your feet in the morning and at night, especially after a long day at the office. Most common foot lotions may smell nice, but they evaporate quickly and do not help the skin on your feet hold in the moisture they need. Try applying Tree Hut Body Butter on your feet at night then sleep in your favorite cotton socks. In the morning, remove the socks to reveal soft feet.

Under-Eye Puffiness and Darkness

Early mornings are unavoidable, but dark puffy circles under your eyes are. Looking like you are in a constant state of sleep deprivation can be cured simply by getting a good night’s rest. A full 8 hours is the number one cure to reducing puffiness and dark circles. If the dark, puffiness continues, try washing your face with cold water, or sooth the under eye with ice. When even that doesn’t work, place cucumber rounds over eyes for 20 minutes.

Shaving and Razor Burn

Avoid the burn of your morning shave and enduring a day of painful red bumps. If you are a morning shaver, wait a few minutes after waking up before shaving by soaking the hair for 2-3 minutes. This will soften the hair, allowing the blade to glide through easier. Try using a creamy based shaving product instead of a foam or gel, this will provide maximum glide over the skin’s surface. It is recommended you shave in the direction your hair grows and use shorter strokes.

Rough Skin

Dry, rough, and chapped skin can be unpleasant and very painful. When simply moisturizing is not enough, try implementing a total body smoothing regimen into your grooming routine. Once or twice a week, cleanse skin with Tree Hut Moisturizing Body Wash, followed by gently exfoliating problem areas with Tree Hut Sugar Scrub. Apply Tree Hut Lotion to your entire body, then Tree Hut Body Butter to those really rough areas.

Sunburn

The best way to treat painful sunburn is to prevent one from happening by wearing a sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher. However, if you are planning a day at the beach, or a summertime pool party, always remember to wear sunscreen. But, in the event that you forget to reapply your SPF, and you feel that red burning coming on, take over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications immediately. These stop inflammation and reduce the amount of redness and pain.

Then apply cool compresses and cool moisturizers. Try putting a moisturizer in the refrigerator for a few hours before applying.

Wrinkles

Avoid wrinkles, first, by preventing them. Don’t smoke and guard your skin against the harmful rays of the sun by applying a sunscreen everyday with a minimum of SPF 15. Keep your skin hydrated and supple by drinking at least eight glasses of water everyday. Not only will you notice younger looking skin, but you will feel better too. In addition, it is important to get adequate amounts of sleep. Do not wash your face more than necessary, and be sure to apply a moisturizer when you do. Eating more fish, soy and fruits and vegetables can also help improve the appearance of the skin.

Stretch Marks

The most common causes of stretch marks are pregnancy, rapid weight loss or gain. Although they pose no threat to your health, stretch marks can cause a person to be very self-conscious. Gently massage Tree Hut Body Butter to any problem areas. The Certified Organic Shea can help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Cuticle and Hand Care

It is important to take care of your cuticles, for they act as a barrier, keeping bacteria out of your body. When your cuticles are ragged, dry and peeling, a simple moisturizer can make all the difference. Carry Tree Hut Body Lotion or Body Butter with you and apply is several times a day, paying special attention to rubbing it into your cuticles. For an at-home manicure, try exfoliating hands with Tree Hut Sugar Body Scrub, followed by massaging Tree Hut Body Butter into your hands. This will smooth away dryness, leaving your skin feeling soft.

Uneven Skin Texture/Tone

Many women have problems when it comes to uneven skin texture and/or tone. One method to balance out uneven skin tone is exfoliation via a daily body scrub. Daily exfoliation helps to remove the dead cells from your skin's surface. This method not only evens out your skin tone, it smoothes it out as well. Exfoliation can also be done using natural products, such as Tree Hut’s Shea Sugar Body Scrub, bringing a brighter glow to your skin!

Try Tree Hut Shea Body Butter... your skin will thank you.
